As I mentioned here back in June, Dominic Roskrow and Dave Broom have joined me in reviewing whiskies in Malt Advocate’s Buyer’s Guide. They will be focusing on whiskies not generally available in the U.S. (They have easier access to these whiskies than I do.)
Starting this week, I’ll be posting up reviews by Dominic. Most are Travel Retail exclusive whiskies. Then, I’ll be posting Dave Broom’s reviews of eight different Japanese whiskies during the two weeks following. All these reviews will also be included in the next issue of Malt Advocate, due out in September. I’m giving my WDJK readers a sneak peak here first.
This is a really good feature. it’s nice to know about these whiskies not available in the US so we can pick the right bottle(s) if we do have a chance to go out of the country, or have someone else bring back a bottle or two.
I can’t wait for Dave Broom’s reviews. It’s too bad his reviews weren’t a bit sooner. I visited Osaka last month and, while I tried and enjoyed as many whiskys as I could, I would have loved to have more guidance. Although, I should note that Nonjatta does a fantastic job covering Japanese whisky.
Look forward to the posts. Speaking of Japanese whisky did I read on the blog here several months ago that Nikka was coming to the US in 2010?

Awesome. Looking forward to them. As many of us have commented, what would really rock is to see the same bottle reviewed by two or three of you. Think about it because your readers would love it.
I’m also getting a review sample of the Laphroaig Triple Wood, so I’ll be happy to let you know my thoughts on this whisky too.
I like Dave’s reviews generally… but I’m really tired of the Japanese “trip” he’s been on in Whisky magazine, and sorry to see it migrating over here to North America. It’s just a bit overboard…. nothing against Japanese whiskies though…… just tired of reading about them.
