All the awards have been announced. I hope you enjoyed my posting them up here on WDJK before they are published in the next issue of Malt Advocate (which will mail in about three weeks). The purpose of doing this was to allow for thoughtful discussion and interaction between whisky enthusiasts worldwide. I hope you enjoyed it.
I’ll be taking some time off with my family and won’t be posting anything new until Thursday. During this time, we’ll also be upgrading to a new, dedicated server. (Yes, WDJK has gotten so much activity, it has risen to the top of the list on its server as the site which is drawing the most bandwidth and memory. Unfortunately, it has also been slowed down because of this.) Someone from my office will put up a post the day we make the switch. You might experience some minor glitches that day. (Well, let’s hope they’re minor.)
In the meantime, click on the “What does everyone else know?” link on the right column of my blog and check out all those other wonderful whisky blogs, forums, podcasts, etc.
When I come back , I’ll be posting a bunch of new whisky reviews over the next several days, including: Glen Grant 10 & 16 yr. old, Smokehead, GlenDronach 12, 15, 18 yr. old, Glenrothes 1994 Vintage, a few new Signatory whiskies, and more. Stay tuned.

Yes, thank you, John. What took us a few minutes to read and absorb must have taken you hours to consider, prepare, and document (and I’m not just talking about the sampling Red_A alludes to.
Yes, again, having you post the award winners here every morning was terrific. If we had only read them in MA, we each would have relished in the one or many we were familiar with, but getting to enjoy the other perspectives here was a real treat.
Looking forward to this next round of reviews. Many of those are on my “to buy” list for 2010. Your work will go a long way toward helping me prioritize the list.

All the malts you mention (save the Smokehead) are on my list to investigate, and Signatory is the IB I’m exploring these days. Looks like I’m soon to be a lucky man as far as WDJK goes. Of course, I’m betting most of us posters/lurkers consider ourselves lucky to read this blog most every day. Thanks again, John, for all your diligent work.
Quick note to Seattle-area readers: For some strange reason, the state liquor distro-gods have seen fit to bestow upon us many bottles of Compass Box’s Eleuthera, a voluptuous vatting that is no longer being produced. There are many bottles at both the 7th & Bell and Crown Hill stores. If you think you’d like a marriage of smoky (Caol Ila), spicy coastal (Clynelish), sweet (Glenlossie) whiskys with a lush mouthfeel at a very reasonable price, you cannot go wrong with this one.
