I am outraged that the Oculus was not priced where more of us punters would have a chance to try it!

Oh, I’m just kidding…actually, as far as I’m concerned, this is a big ho-hum–so they managed to fill another bottle with the leftovers of the 62yo. The W&M publicity machine has really been working overtime lately.

In view of the current… Really, why this economic downturn is mentioned everywhere? Practically it does not have any effect on MOST of our income. Of course some suffer due to it, but MOST of us go on like before. Especially the ones who are willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars for a whisky bottle.

The actual bid price was £23,000, which with the buyers premium of 20% made the final price £27,600. The whisky has been crafted using malts also used in the legendary Dalmore 62yo. Having tasted this fabulous dram in the company of Richard Patterson, I am sure the Oculus will be equally special – special enough to break the seal like the man in post 1?……..

John, the Glenmorangie 1963 fetched £480 (including buyer’s premium). Yes, it was at Bonham’s, not Christie’s (my carelessness!).

A businessman paid £32,000 for a rare Dalmore 62 Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky, at the Pennyhill Park Hotel, Bagshot, Surrey, on 24 May.
