WhiskyFest was last night and I learned about a lot of cool new whiskies coming on the market. (And I am very tired.) Now I’m off to the Caymans for some R&R until April 8th.
However, I wrote up some blogs about what I learned at WhiskyFest and they will automatically post while I am away. So, please keep checking in. You can comment too, but remember that I approve all comments before they post. I’ll only be checking the blog sporadically, so if your comment doesn’t post up right away, don’t worry. It will eventually.

Thank you for putting on such a wonderful event. This was the first one I was able to attend and had a wonderful time. I hope next year it remains on a mid-week day, not on Passover, and perhaps a kosher option for Chicago. thank you again, and enjoy what, last night’s successful event demonstrated, a well deserved vacation.
DavidG, we’ll do our best to get a good date for next year. Glad you had fun.
Hi John,
Enjoy your well deserved vacation. Perhaps you could jot down a list of interesting Travael Retail/Duty Free bottlings on the way back. Such a list would be useful for those of us who depend on others for procurement of these bottlings.
Thanks.
Louis
Thanks. Not sure what Grand Cayman has in the way of Travel Retail, but I have been known to bring back a bottle of rum or two on occassion.
Take a dip in some of the clear waters for those of us landlocked here in AZ.
Will do, Sam S., will do. Thanks!
Hi John, my experience is that the Caribbean has interesting duty free rums, and tends to be thin for single malt scotch. I’ve had better luck on the way out to the Caribbean picking up stuff on the US side.
Have fun in the azure warm waters.
Todd, yes, I think I’ll be looking for the odd rum, if anything. And for the beer lovers out there, I already picked up a six pack of the “super-charged” Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (7.5% ABV) that is made for the Caribbean market and not sold in the U.S. In fact, I had two today at lunch!
John, I hope you have found some time to pick up a fishing rod! I love the magazine and blog and hope to see you in NYC!

I went out deep sea fishing on Sunday morning and caught two Wahoo! One was almost 35 pounds. In total, we caught five, along with a bunch of other fish. We had a big fish fry on Sunday night.
I’m Jealous! Only a true fisherman understands how relaxing fishing is! I can’t wait to head down to West Palm Beach next month and try to catch some of the early tarpon. I hope you post those Wahoo photos.
Andrew, I’ll see if I can get a picture or two up here eventually. One of the Wahoo was almost 35 pounds–a nice fish!
